Nursing Bridge Option: Pre-Select Curriculum (Effective 2009-2)

The School of Nursing also offers this option online. Student will attend theory courses only thru the web and clinical courses will be in different clinical sites throughout Dade County.
Selection is based on the students' cumulative grade point average (GPA) and successful completion of prerequisite courses. Students who are currently enrolled in all prerequisite courses of the chosen option are also eligible for selection.
Application Criteria – Bridge/Transitional Option (Full Time, Part Time, Bridge)
To apply to the Bridge/Transitional Option in the School of Nursing for the Spring semester (2010-2) and all following semesters, the applicant must:
1. Successfully complete the following general education and natural sciences pre-requisite courses with a “C” or higher prior to the application deadlines:

* Although it is not required, it is highly recommended that students enroll in MCB 2010L when taking MCB 2010. Students planning to transition from the ADN to the BSN program are required to successfully complete MCB 2010L.
2. Possess a current license/certification as a:
a. State of Florida Licensed Practical Nurse
b. State of Florida Certified Paramedic
c. State of Florida Licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist
d. Military Medics
e. Registered Medical Assistant (with proof of graduated from a State of Florida Department of Education approved training program).
3. Have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5.
(Graduates from an accredited institution outside the United States must participate in the TOEFL process – please see an academic advisor for more details).
4. Complete the TEAS Test with a minimum scores of 58.7 % or higher.
Additional Requirements:
1. The following courses must be completed to be awarded the Associate in Science Degree.
CGS 1060** Introduction to Microcomputer
**Applicants may complete this requirement with the successful completion of the Computer Competency Test. This course requirement must be completed by the 31th credit of enrollment.
2. Non-Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) applicants must successfully complete NRG 051 – Nursing Skills Update Course with a grade of “S” before applying to the program.
3. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) who have been out of practice for five or more years must successfully complete NRG 051 - Nursing Skills Update Course with a grade of “B” or higher before applying.
4. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) who graduated within the past five (5) years, hold a CURRENT Florida LPN license and have been actively working (Letter from Employer) as LPNs, do not need to take the
NRG 051 - Nursing Skills Update Course.
5. Applicants must successfully complete the ATI PN Comprehensive Predictor scores within the past five (5) years from date of completion and scored at the 90% probability of Passing NCLEX or higher
OR
Successfully complete the National League for Nursing (NLN) Comprehensive Predictor for Practical Nursing exam within the past five (5) years from date of completion and scored at 128 or higher.
OR
Successfully complete the National League for Nursing (NLN) Nursing Accelerated Challenge Exam (NACE) within the past five (5) years from date of completion and scored at 65% or higher
6. Students with 4 or more grades of D, F or W, in required natural science courses are not eligible for entry into the Associate Degree Nursing program
7. Applicants with more than two (2) enrollments (D, F, W) for any the required natural science courses are not eligible for entry in any of the Nursing program options.
Selection Criteria:
1. Scores on the TEAS Test (60%)
2. Natural Science GPA (40%)
