CHILDREN & FAMILIES 10 HOUR YOUNG CHILDREN

Course Description

The purpose of this training is to provide child care workers with a basic understanding of appropriate practices for working with children ages three though five in a child care setting.  The participant will gain the knowledge and skills necessary for assisting in the implementation of a supportive, safe and family focused group care environment for young children.  If this ten-hour course is used as part of the required thirty-hour certification it must be completed within one year of the starting date of the ten-hour course.

  • Stages of Development
  • Learning Environments
  • Positive Guidance Strategies
  • Observation/Assessment
  • Relationships with Families

Evaluation

Students evaluate the course using the Preschool Children 10-Hour Training Module Course Evaluation Form.

Make-up

There is no make-up.  Students are encouraged to attend class on the scheduled dates.  If one class is missed, students must retake the entire class.
