Community Building Activities

Luissette Ramos
The Honors College has taught me that anything can be achieved if the effort is taken. No challenge is too great in life.”

Luissette Ramos, Class of 2007

Pinning ceremony

The pinning ceremony is a symbolic welcoming of new students into The Honors College. This formal event can be compared to an initiation into a prestigious service or community organization. It also provides parents an opportunity to meet some of the Miami Dade College faculty, administrators and staff who will be guiding their children  for the next two years.

" It was wonderful to hear of the experiences that the students shared with us. My husband I are very excited for Stephanie because she has been accepted into a great college program that will give her the foundation she needs..."

Parents of Stephanie Kemp, Class of 2005

Field Day

Annually, The Honors College organizes a college-wide field day at the Kendall Campus. It consists of team sports and games that allow students from all four campuses to get to know each other in a fun, non-academic setting.  This experience gives students hands-on knowledge on collaboration and team spirit.

Campus and college-wide talent shows

Honors College students are gifted in many areas. Each year each campus holds a talent show that allows students to share their special talents. Selected acts are showcased at College- wide events or at end of year celebrations.

"The Honors College offers students a chance to interact with each other"

Ivania Miranda, Class of 2006

Service-learning projects

Annually, students of The Honors College proactively take part in several service learning projects in partnership with the Miami Dade College Center for Community Involvement. Students learn the importance of giving back to their community and reflect on the impact the service has made on them.
