Leadership Seminar (Washington Center)

Miami Dade College (MDC) was represented by student participants in The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, perhaps one of the most successful initiatives.   Twelve students were selected to travel to Washington, D.C., for the Leaders on Leadership Honors Seminar 2006.  This week-long academic seminar, the first of its kind, offered to honors students across the nation, provided an opportunity for students to actively explore leadership issues within a variety of policy areas, while utilizing the resources of the nation’s capital.  Students listened to a variety of speakers, journalists, ambassadors, foundation presidents, corporate and not-for-profit executives who spoke about diverse topics and had private audiences where they met and interviewed elected governmental officials. Students majoring in the fields of communications, business, history, and international relations applied to attend the Leaders on Leadership Seminar Honors Seminar 2006, and were selected on the strength of their application by a panel of faculty judges.
