Salary Offer Guidelines

I. Full-Time Salary Analysis (New, Change, Promotion, Demotion and Re-Hire)

  1. Hiring Department supervisor requests salary analysis
    1. E-mail salary offer quote request to HRSalaryOfferRequests@mdc.edu.
    2. Submit position number and title as well as applicant name in the request.
  2. Hiring Department
    1. Present salary offer to candidate contingent upon successful completion of background check.
    2. The following must be included in Application package:
      1. Start/End Date of each job indicating month and year
      2. State whether each job is full or part-time
      3. Explain any gaps in service
      4. Licenses or certificates, if required for position
      5. Transcripts for all universities or colleges attended
        1. Foreign Degrees require an official translation and evaluation in order to ensure degree equivalency with the United States
        2. It is the applicant's responsibility to pay for the evaluation from a certified NACES (www.naces.org) translator
  3. Employment performs salary analysis for recommended candidate
    1. Up to 5 business days of receipt
    2. Candidate possessing additional years of experience beyond the minimum job requirements, certain expertise or specialized skills may be awarded additional compensation above minimum salary.
    3. Includes comparable compensation equity analysis based on years of experience and credentials of other full-time employees with the same job class
  4. Employment contacts hiring supervisor to discuss salary offer
    1. Salary negotiations will not be conducted or discussed with the selected candidate
  5. Upon Candidate's acceptance of approved salary offer, hiring department submits following documentation:
    1. Request for Personnel Action
    2. Original application form
    3. Three (3) Current original letters of reference
    4. Official transcripts for all colleges or universities attended
      1. Foreign degrees require an official translation and evaluation in order to ensure degree equivalency with the United States
      2. It is the applicant's responsibility to pay for the evaluation from a certified NACES (www.naces.org) translator.
    5. Official certifications, if applicable
      W-4 Form (withholding allowance)
  6. Human Resources processes Request for Personnel Action
    1. Start date based on official Request for Personnel Action/Payroll Calendar deadlines
    2. Employee should not start new position before Human Resources approval/processing

II. Part-Time Hourly Quote Guidelines

  1. Hiring Department submits a copy of the candidate's application, resume, transcripts and job description or job posting to Employment (fax 7-0961)
  2. The Employment Specialist reviews for appropriate job classification/hourly rate
    1. Up to 48 hours of receipt
    2. Based on the minimum requirements of determined job classifications
