Guidelines for the College President's Recognition of Excellence Award
Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) and Professional Exempt Non Contractual (PENC) Employees

  • A maximum of 15% of eligible Professional Employees (Level 18 and below, excluding Dept. Chairpersons and Deans) who have had a minimum of two years of continuous, full-time service by April 1, may be recognized and awarded an amount of $1,000 (bonus check) for demonstrated excellence in the performance of their duties.  Professional personnel must have been in the Professional Job Group (PEC/PENC) for two or more consecutive years as of April 1st. The number of assigned Professional Employees (Level 18 and below, excluding Dept. Chairpersons and Deans) will establish a 15% limitation. The 15% figure will be determined by the highest whole number. As an example, percentages of 11.5 and 11.9 will equate to 12 possible recipients. Percentages less than 1.0 will be rounded to 1.
  • Candidates for the College President’s Recognition of Excellence Award will be brought forth for consideration by their immediate supervisors by mid-August. Excellence Award nomination forms when completed must have a copy of the employee’s most recent performance evaluation attached. Excellence Award recipients for the immediately preceding five (5) years are identified on the list of eligible employees distributed by Human Resources. Previous recipients are eligible to receive Excellence Awards in subsequent years.
  • Final campus or area recommendations for the College President’s Recognition of Excellence Award will be forwarded by the appropriate Area Heads to the College President for approval by mid-September. The College President will make the final decision by the end of September.
  • It is recognized that the number of employees considered excellent in their specific positions may exceed the number of awards that can be granted in a given year.  With this in mind, it is recommended that nominated employees who are not chosen to receive this award receive a letter of appreciation from their respective Area Head in recognition of a job well done.
  • Decisions made concerning the College President’s Recognition of Excellence Program are not subject to the grievance procedures.
