ADMISSION INFORMATION FOR THE BACCALAUREATE PROGRAMS IN THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
 

Students must have:

bullet Completed an Associate in Arts degree from a regionally accredited community college or earned 60 semester credit hours of postsecondary education that includes the completion of all general education requirements from an accredited college or university
Earned a minimum of a 2.5 Grade Point Average
bullet

Received passing scores on all sections of the CLAST; or if exempted or waived from CLAST, passing scores on all sections of the General Knowledge Test (GKT) of the Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FTCE)

bullet Completed the Common Education Prerequisite Courses with a minimum of a grade of “C” in each course. The Common Education Prerequisite Courses are:
 

EDF 1005 Introduction to Education
EDG 2701 Teaching Diverse Populations
EME 2040 Introduction to Technology

 
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING REQUIREMENTS OF STUDENTS IN EDUCATION COURSES
School districts in the state of Florida require a criminal background check for field placement students and interns. Fingerprinting and criminal background check procedures are at the student’s expense. Students with felony arrests may wish to consider these requirements carefully, and if necessary, seek advice from an advisor in the School of Education before enrolling in courses with the field experience requirement. Students without a valid social security number will not be eligible for placement in the local school district.
