DIVERSITY

The goal of Project EXITO's Diversity Component is to promote student awareness in learning about other cultures by diversifying the student body and identifying, recruiting, and enrolling Haitian, Caribbean, and other non-Hispanic groups.

In addition, Project EXITO has been working with the ESL & Foreign Languages Department to develop an Associate of Science degree in Translation and Interpretation Studies in English/Spanish and English/Creole to complement the Certificate Program and attract underrepresented students. The English/Spanish track started in the Fall Term 2003-1 and the English/Creole track will be offered starting in the Spring Term 2004-2.

The Translation-Interpretation Studies A.S. degree is unique to the InterAmerican Campus and the only one offered in the nation. This high-paying field is in great demand in the South Florida area where government, multinational corporations, importers, exporters, and the news and entertainment media are in need of workers with these skills. The program prepares students for a very lucrative freelance job market.
