Strengthening Academic Programs Through Faculty Development,
Electronic Portfolio Development/Instruction

of Education
St. Thomas University and Miami Dade College have jointly been funded, through the Department of Education
by the Title V, Higher Education Act , in a Cooperative grant to respectively facilitate initiatives to meet
the needs of an ever growing Hispanic and multi-cultural population in the Miami-Dade county area.
In order to better serve this population, St. Thomas University and Miami Dade College have formed a cooperative
arrangement to enrich the the academic quality and basic capacity of both institutions.
St. Thomas University and Miami Dade College have developed a multi-faceted plan requiring the
incorporation of technology in providing education and ongoing support for faculty to infuse academic courses with
the use of electronic portfolios and providing access for students to use computers regularly
in their learning experiences.
This technology encompasses the development of electronic portfolios for use not only within
a course curriculum, but for four years after the requirements of the course have been completed.
This Title V program offers the possibility of rejuvenating faculty and learning for students
with technology. |
