Here is a list of other important celebrations for the
month of May with a brief annotation.

Family Support Month

May 1-31 (kicks off May 3). The purpose of this annual observance is to support families with children during both divorce and after, along with separation and custody issues. Promotes respect for mother/child relationships. The focus for 2004 is “Talking Time for Family.”

Get Caught Reading Book

May 1-31. Celebrities appear in ads appealing to people of all ages to remind them of the joy of reading. For more information visit: www.getcaughtrealing.org or www.publishers.org

Law Enforcement Appreciation Month in Florida

May 1-31. Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in May 15 in Florida, a ceremonial day.

National Arthritis Month

May 1-31. Increases awareness of the more than 100 forms or arthritis and related diseases and increases support for the 70 million Americans with arthritis. For more information visit: www.arthritis.org

National Scholarship Month

May 1-31. To recognize organizations, businesses, individuals that have helped and continue to help students with scholarships; to increase the awareness of the need for more private sector aid for students; and to focus attention on the impact made by scholarships on students seeking postsecondary educational opportunities. National Teacher Day

May 4 will be National Teacher Day, a time for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives. It is always celebrated the Tuesday of the first full week of May, so the actual date varies each year. Web. http://www.nea.org/teachday/
