    MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the InterAmerican Campus Library is to provide access to collections, resources, services and facilities in support of the college's purpose and educational programs. At InterAmerican Campus, the Library is viewed as the information place, because it provides information and instruction in use of materials in print and online formats. The Library serves a diverse population and celebrates this diversity. We strive to treat all of our users with courtesy and respect and to provide access to timely and relevant sources of information.

    CIRCULATION AND RESERVE

Checking Out Materials

Currently registered students, faculty and staff can take library materials home by presenting their M-DCard or a validated current schedule along with picture identification. Your M-DCard is good at all campus libraries. Borrowers may take up to ten resources, no more than 3 on a specific subject, for up to 21 days (only books). Renewal of books is permitted once for up to 21 more days. Renewals can be done online or in person at the library. Videos may be checked out for 2 or 3 days depending on the video and CD-Roms for 2 days only.

Special Borrowers, including those from Library Cooperatives and/or Consortia, in addition to those approved by the Library Directors/Associate Deans, are extended borrowing privileges for a given semester. Appropriate permission must be presented. M-DC alumni who join the Alumni Association are entitled to library privileges for the year stated on their respective Alumni Cards.

Returning Materials
You may return your borrowed materials inside the library at the Circulation desk drop box during operating hours. When the Library is closed, materials may be returned in the drop box located outside the library by the entrance doors.

Reserve Materials
Instructors may place materials on reserve for the class to review. Ask for reserve materials at the Service/Circulation desk. You must have your M-DCard or current schedule with a picture identification to use these materials. Materials in this collection may circulate for 2, 7, 14 days based on the professor's recommendation. Most resources in the Reserve collection, however, only circulate inside the library for up to 2 hours. Check with the Circulation staff to find out more regarding circulation of Reserve Materials.

    INTERLIBRARY LOANS (ILL)
As members of SEFLIN (Southeast Florida Library Information Network), FLIN and CCLA we provide free (statewide) interlibrary loans as well as access to local member libraries. You may also borrow materials both nationally and internationally at a minimal cost. If our library does not have what you are looking for, just ask for it through interlibrary loan.

Pricing Structure
Within the state of Florida all public libraries, colleges and universities are free of charge. Private and out-of-state costs vary between $7.00 to $10.00 and item. For periodicals there may be a per-page fee instead. You may limit your expenditure by setting a maximum cost per item that is not to be exceeded.

    REFERENCE AND INFORMATION SERVICES
Students may request assistance of the librarian on duty at the Reference desk with homework assignments and research activities. Librarians help users locate and identify appropriate materials using a wide variety of resources such as: electronic indexes, reference materials, multi-media, and video recordings, as well as the Internet. Through a structured bibliographic instruction program, librarians teach students how to use and access all available resources. Come by the Reference desk for personal assistance or you may wish to call (305) 237-6236 for more details.

You may also ask for help using the Ask-A-Librarian service.
