  The Benefits of the Veterans Upward Bound Program
  The Veterans Upward Bound Program offers FREE educational courses and career counseling from the country's premier community college. The project is here to help eligible veterans enter and succeed with post secondary education.
  The Program Serves:
 
  • ALL VETERANS - peacetime and wartime.
  • DISABLED VETERANS
  • FIRST GENERATION-IN-COLLEGE VETERANS
  • LOW INCOME VETERANS .

  Educational Services:
 


First, we'll help you select goals. After completing standardized tests, you will decide how to prepare for future learning. Working individually with teachers, and tutors, you will be assisted with the following:

  • Acquiring studying, note-taking, and test-taking skills.
  • Developing English communication abilities in reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Improving your understanding of arithmetic and algebra.
  Personal Counseling Services:
 

Acknowledging that it can be difficult to manage part-time jobs, and individual and family responsibilities while attempting to manage class work, the staff of the Veterans Upward Bound Program will help you make the necessary adjustments in your life to prepare to you to successfully deal with college studies.

  • We will supply you with a wide spectrum of options to help you decide on an appropriate degree or certificate program at an accredited college or training school.
  • You will be shown how to access student support ser vices, such as libraries, financial aid information, and career counseling.
  • You will be exposed to local, national, and international cultural programs to enhance your appreciation and understanding of global diversity and to be involved in community affairs.
 
  • THE VETERANS UPWARD BOUND PROGRAM'S CLASSES LAST A FULL SEMESTER, ABOUT SIXTEEN (16) WEEKS.
  • ALL CLASSES, BOOKS AND MATERIALS ARE FREE TO PARTICIPANTS.
  • IF CLASSES ARE ATTENDED ON A REGULAR BASIS, A MONTHLY STIPEND IS GIVEN TO HELP WITH TRANSPORTATION COSTS.
