MDC Kendall Campus Concerto/Solo Competition 2014/15

Auditions will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Participants must have their entire Concerto/Solo prepared with an accompanist. Three winners will be selected to perform with the MDC Wind Symphony on our spring concert and will receive a cash prize.

Competition Rules and Regulations

1. The Concerto Competition is open to all MDC music students enrolled at the college in good academic standing.

2. The finalists must be available for regular class schedule rehearsals with the MDC Wind Symphony M, W and F from 10-11:50am, and on the day of the dress rehearsal.

3. Students who represent the best performance(s) will be selected without regard to
instrument, voice type, degree program, or repertoire.

4. It is the applicant’s responsibility to secure an accompanist for the audition.

5. Recordings cannot be used in lieu of a pianist as the judges must evaluate collaboration and spontaneity in the performance.

6. If the audition piece is a multi-movement work, all of the movements the applicant wishes to perform with the Wind Symphony, if selected as a finalist, must be represented in the Competition Audition.

7. Auditions will take place in the McCarthy Auditorium, Room 6120. (Memorization is encouraged although not required. The judges may take this sign of musical preparedness into account.)

8. Audition times will be emailed to participating students.

9. All students must complete the entry form by the deadline: October 14th. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
