Speech - The faculty or art of speaking. The faculty or act of expressing or describing thoughts, feelings or perceptions by the articulation of words. Vocal communication; conversation.

Before becoming a full-time English teacher, Professor Jose M. Blanco worked at the IBM Development Lab in Boca Raton, Florida as a technical writer from 1985 - 1990. While working at IBM, he developed an interest in computer programming and mathematics.
He earned an M.A. in English from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a B.A. in English from Florida International University.
From 1990 through 1999, professor Blanco taught English composition and technical writing; he continues to teach those courses on a part-time basis. Among his projects for the 2006-2007 he will be teaching an on-line version of ENC 1101 (English Composition I).
Professor Blanco has been the Chairperson of the English and Communications since 1999.
He enjoys tropical horticulture, computers, mathematics, and reading. Among his favorite writers are Charles Willeford, Randy Wayne White, and Harry Crews.
In 2005 Mr. and Mrs. Blanco welcomed a new addition to the family, a daugther, adding to the joy of their two other boys.
Professor Blanco has been with the Miami Dade College family since 1990. |
