Description:

Participants will view demonstrations of tools used to create on-line language instruction, such as: BlueGLAS, Wimba, Camtasia, Impatica On Cue, Toolbook, Flash, FrontPage Interactives, WebCT, Hot Potatoes, etc.

Participants will evaluate the tools and come up with suggestions on how to effectively incorporate them in our future six-level eWriting on-line courses, taking into account the following:

• Students’ language proficiency/course level
• The structure and content of Learning Objects
• The variety of activities and exercises

Participants will also share and demonstrate their experience in using the above tools in on-line instruction.

Objectives:

• Identify potential applications of BlueGLAS, Wimba, Camtasia, Impatica, Toolbook, Flash, FrontPage Interactives, Hot Potatoes, Merlot in the

FIPSE 6 level eWriting lab courses.

• Use the eWriting worksheet to determine appropriate combinations of eWriting tools for the lower and advanced levels of ESL proficiency
• Identify the appropriate tools to present the different content elements of a model Learning Object/s.
• Develop pedagogical guidelines for using the eWriting tools with the various levels of ESL proficiency.
