Is Independent Studies Right For You?
Independent Studies is ideal for students who work, have rotating schedules or jobs that require frequent travel, have small children, or cannot attend classes on a routine basis. However Independent Studies is not right for all students. Before committing yourself to completing this course we ask you to evaluate your study and learning styles to be sure that this is the correct approach for you.

Independent Studies is an excellent alternative to conventional classrooms if you:
  • Are self-motivated
  • Organize your time
  • Are responsible about meeting deadlines
  • Are serious about your academic life
  • Are a hard-working person with a busy schedule
  • Enjoy working at your own pace
  • Enjoy working with a teacher one-on-one
  • Like the option of finishing a course before the term ends
  • Have clear goals that you are working toward
  • Enjoy reading and writing
  • Are assertive about your academic needs
  • Ask a lot of questions
  • Make time to dedicate to studying
If the above items describe you, then you are ready to go! We look forward to working with you. If you are not certain that Independent Studies is right for you, we recommend that you begin with a single course in a field in which you feel comfortable.
