All-Star Jazz Band
Sign up for the Miami Dade College Kendall Campus All-Star Jazz Band! This ensemble is open to all high school students with a love of performing great jazz. You will work with Miami Dade College jazz faculty, and special guest, Jazz Educator and clinician, Dennis Marks, from the University of North Florida.
This three-day event will culminate in a free concert on Friday, April 12th at 7:30 PM, so invite all of your family and friends!
The Clinicians
Dennis Marks, one of the most in-demand bass players on the jazz scene, has been playing with Arturo Sandoval for years and has performed with many great musicians, including Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Liebman, Bob Mintzer, Maynard Ferguson, and Pat Metheny.
Matt Bonelli has been teaching music all his adult life. His legacy of students includes members of bands such as Matchbox Twenty, Vertical Horizon, and Sergio Mendez Brazil 06. Many others are active in music careers world wide. Some of Mr. Bonelli's own professional credits are performances with jazz legends Mose Allison, Roland Hanna, and Ira Sullivan. Other notable artists include The Bee Gee's, Bo Diddley, and The Fifth Dimension to name a few.
Jim Broderick is a skilled performing musician (trumpet), composer, arranger and bandleader. His experience includes five years in the United States Marine Corps band field, performance in jazz, classical, and studio settings. He has performed with Percy Sledge, Iko Iko, Nicole Yarling, John Yarling and many others. Jim teaches music theory, ear training, directs Miami Dade College’s NightTime Jazz Band.
