TITLE: Supporting Future Teachers’ Success Through Learning Communities

ABSTRACT: This grant creates a fully-articulated and coordinated structure for an Education Learning Community which will include course competencies for interdisciplinary and modified courses. In addition, it will develop a training program for new learning community faculty to be offered through the College’s Center for Training and Development.
PROJECT SUMMARY:

This project created a plan for creating and implementing the Homestead Campus Education Academy, a CTD training course on learning communities, and the first three blended courses for this two year program. The detailed final report is attached. The final report includes well articulated assessment strategies. The training program will be assessed by participants as they take the workshop.

PLANS FOR DISSEMINATION: This project will be shared with the School of Education, the Honors College Learning Communities Committee and the Learning Communities group meeting with Juan Abascal.
The project will also be presented to the Homestead Campus CASCC as an informational item.
The EA will be proposed as a presentation for the 2003-4 Conference Day.
