  • Learning Outcomes Initiative Planning Retreat for Deans, Directors, Managers, Discipline Conveners
  • Program/Discipline Learning Outcomes Dialogue Plan (LOI) presented at the College wide Convocation and at the Adjunct Faculty Convocation

May — June 2010

  • Learning Outcomes Initiative Planning Retreat for School Directors, Deans, Faculty Conveners, LOAT & LOCC members — with guest lecturer Susan Hatfield
  • MDC is selected to participate in The Roadmap Project. This program is designed to help colleges create robust and proactive programs of academic support — tied to expected learning outcomes — that engage students at entrance and teach them how to become active partners in their own quest for educational success

March — April 2010

  • Audio Conference: Inside Higher Ed's "Measuring Learning, Using the Results" presented to LOAT & LOCC members

January — February 2010

  • Learning Outcomes Campus Dialogues held on all campuses, with a total of 357 participants
  • Learning Outcomes Assessment Team pretests new assessments

  • Student Services Advisors, Directors and Deans participate in "Authentic Assessment and Co-Curricular Mapping Workshop" with Dr. Maggie Culp, Higher Education Consultant.

  • Development of Student Services Annual Service Area Reports that are inclusive of status report of SLO Mapping and Assessment implementation.

May — June 2008

  • Assessment Tasks 3, 4, and 5 scored from Spring administration by Learning Outcomes Assessment Team
  • Results of Assessment Tasks 3, 4, and 5 reported to the disciplines
  • Discipline discussions and suggestions for future assessments
  • Annual Discipline Reports contain status of Learning Outcomes integration into course content and progress toward curriculum mapping

March — April 2008

  • Assessment Tasks 3, 4, and 5 administered to identified course sections
  • Conference Day discussion about curriculum mapping within disciplines and results of Assessment Tasks 1 and 2 administration

January — February 2008

  • Assessment Tasks scored from Fall administration by Learning Outcomes Assessment Team
  • Current Assessment Tasks 3, 4, and 5 and rubrics modified and new ones developed by Learning Outcomes Assessment Team
  • Students and course sections for Spring administration of Assessment Tasks identified and communicated to the faculty involved
  • Results of CSP and Assessment Tasks 1 and 2 communicated to disciplines
  • Learning Outcomes Assessment Team continues work on Assessment Tasks 3, 4, and 5
  • Development of Student Services SLO Co-Curricular Map, in which 2 SLOs are adopted for reinforcement by each Student Service area through the delivery and integration of intentional learning and assessment experiences.

  • Discipline chairs and conveners compile feedback and discussion comments from 8/27 and report them to lead discipline Dean and chairs for distribution to faculty
  • Disciplines encourage adjunct faculty to begin developing course strategies for reinforcing the Learning Outcomes
  • Curriculum mapping workshop by Dr. Peggy Maki, external consultant, for chairs and discipline conveners
  • Current Assessment Tasks and rubrics 1 and 2 modified and new ones developed by Learning Outcomes Assessment Team
  • Students and course sections for Fall administration of Assessment Tasks identified and communicated to the faculty involved
  • Disciplines internally identify and communicate ways to incorporate and assess Learning Outcomes in their courses for full-time and adjunct faculty
  • Processes for faculty mapping established
  • Student Services Advisors, Directors and Deans participate in "The Role of Student Services in Implementing General Education Outcomes" with Dr. Maggie Culp, Higher Education Consultant.

July — August 2007

  • New Faculty Orientation discusses implementing Learning Outcomes
  • Adjunct Faculty Orientation discusses Learning Outcomes
  • Student Learning Outcomes statements in College-wide Student Publications: Student Planner, Orientation Handbook, Student Rights and Responsibilities, and on Prospective and Current Student Websites.
  • Student Deans participate as Presenters and Session Facilitators at General Education and Assessment: An Academic Dialogue.

March — April 2007

  • Results of initial assessment reported to and discussed by the disciplines/schools at Conference Day
  • Results of initial assessment reported to SACS
