Key business and community leaders gathered at MDC’s Wolfson Campus for a recent lunch with Dr. Leonel Fernández, the president of the Dominican Republic. The lunch was hosted by MDC President Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón, and the objective was a discussion of the work of Fernández’s Global Foundation for Democracy and Development.

Fernández has had a long-term relationship with MDC through the foundation, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to training Dominicans in the fields of technology, entertainment, television and film. The foundation accomplishes its goals through research projects, training programs, academic exchange programs, publications, seminars and conferences.

Following the lunch meeting, Fernández addressed more than 200 Miami Dade College students on the state of education and democracy throughout Latin America.
