College and Homestead Campus leaders, along with members of the Homestead Student Government Association, held a special reception for the newly elected members of the Homestead City Council. MDC President Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón, Homestead Campus President Dr. Jeanne Jacobs were followed by SGA President Fabiola Guevara in offering welcoming remarks to Mayor Lynda Bell, an MDC alumna, and the members of the Homestead City Council.

Homestead Campus opened as the College’s fifth campus in 1985 in temporary quarters at the First Baptist Church with 350 students. By 1991, a modern campus facility had been built. Today, the campus remains an integral part of the Homestead community, offering educational programs of excellence to Miami-Dade County’s southernmost residents.
