Freedom Tower weather vane removed

The weather vane mounted 255 feet high atop the Freedom Tower at Miami Dade College was removed recently after several weeks of preparations. Comprised of a post, decorative ship and directional signal, the weather vane was affixed to the building’s cupola; it was designed for showing the direction of the wind. A recent spate of hurricanes left a spliced support shaft. After some setbacks, the weather vane and damaged shaft were successfully lowered for storage at Kendall Campus until repairs are finalized.
