Chinese education officials learn, share at Medical Center Campus
This month Miami Dade College will host Chinese delegates for two weeks as part of the Vocational Education Leadership Training Program (VELT) on its Medical Center Campus. “We look forward to hosting the distinguished delegation of Chinese administrators from various vocational and technical institutions,” said Dr. Anita S. Kaplan, Medical Center Campus president.

Three MDC students receive $40K scholarships from Posse foundation
There’s strength in numbers — that’s the basic principal behind the Posse Foundation, which awarded three Miami Dade College students in its School for Advanced Studies (SAS) with four-year, $40,000-a-year scholarships to the University of Pennsylvania. Founded in 1989, the Posse Foundation’s goal is to help students from diverse backgrounds form a posse, or a support group, that will enhance their college experience.

In recognition of this, MDC offers a variety of programs that provide STEM students with advising, tutoring and support, including technical equipment and faculty mentoring, as well as transfer assistance and scholarships, among others.

With an eye to the future, MDC has launched a new program of study in China, the country with the third-largest economy in the world.
Success grant makes major impact on MDC students
The ¡Viva El Éxito! Student Success Initiative (VESSI), a Title V Grant from the U.S. Department of Education, is successfully ending its five-year run at Miami Dade College. Issued in 2005, the grant totaled $2.25 million or $450,000 per year.
