MDC captures several Florida Campus Compact awards

The annual Campus Compact Gala and Award Ceremony brought top honors to Miami Dade College.
Institutional Honors
MDC won the Engaged Campus of the Year Award for outstanding commitment to a culture of engagement.
The new Miami Rescue Mission Clinic, a partnership between MDC’s Medical Center Campus and the Miami Rescue Mission, received the Campus-Community Partnership Award for producing measurable improvements in people’s lives while enhancing higher education in the process.
The College’s Center for Community Involvement was recognized for its exemplary utilization of Florida Campus Compact’s AmeriCorps VISTA program.
Faculty Honors
Dr. Lauren Gach, associate professor in the School of Education, won the 2009 service-learning faculty award in the state college sector for substantially contributing to the integration of service-learning into her curriculum.
Founded in 1985, Campus Compact was the first higher education association which was dedicated to advancing civic and community engagement.
