Albright Lights Up Miami and MDC
Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright recently brought her wisdom, insights and global perspectives to several events at Miami Dade College. She spoke at MDC’s renowned Miami Leadership Roundtable, which is made possible by the generous support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. At the Roundtable, Albright discussed current global issues and offered an introduction to the exhibition of her pin collection, which is on display at MDC’s historic Freedom Tower until April 30. Attendees received a copy of her new book, Read My Pins: Stories From a Diplomat’s Jewel Box, in which she describes how she has used her collection of brooches throughout her career to communicate messages and diplomatic statements. In addition, Albright met with MDC students at The Honors College to discuss diplomacy, politics and world affairs. She also found a few moments for sheer fun, cutting loose at the drums with legendary jazz icon Herbie Hancock and jazz students from the New World School of the Arts at MDC.
