Ensuring that students excel academically even after their graduation day, Miami Dade College has developed more than 70 articulation agreements with universities throughout the country and the world, making it easier for MDC students to transfer or complete advanced degrees through distance learning.
The latest agreement was forged recently with the University of New Mexico (UNM), a public research institution located in Albuquerque.
Dedicated to Excellence
The agreement, signed by MDC President Eduardo J. Padrón and UNM President David J. Schmidly, is a fitting partnership, given the commitment to student excellence and the outstanding academic track record of both institutions. MDC and UNM provide diverse populations with broad access to institutions of higher learning.
MDC students who complete an Associate in Arts, Associate in Science or 60 transferable credit hours will have an opportunity to seamlessly transfer to UNM. Those with associate degrees will be admitted as juniors and awarded credit for all general education requirements at UNM.
Amigo Scholarships Available
As part of the agreement, MDC students are eligible for the Amigo Scholarships program, which reduces out-of-state tuition to resident levels and also provides an additional stipend.
UNM, classified in the highest doctoral research category among universities, is home to many nationally ranked programs in medicine, business, law, education, fine arts, engineering and the humanities.
Founded in 1889, UNM is the largest post-secondary institution in New Mexico and one of the largest employers in the state.
MDC is the nation’s largest institution of higher education with an enrollment of more than 174,000 students. It is also the nation’s top producer in Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees.
