Carlos J. Martínez

Miami-Dade Public Defender Carlos J. Martínez knows something about being the underdog. After arriving from Cuba with his family in 1969, he ambitiously set out from an early age to prove that the American Dream can definitely become a reality. Martínez worked his way through college, beginning his undergraduate studies at MDC. As a lawyer, he has received numerous awards for his dedication to serving the underprivileged.

“Choosing Miami Dade College was a great decision for me. Through MDC’s excellent professors, I learned public speaking and critical thinking,” Martínez said. “Later, in law school, those essential skills to a lawyer’s life, learned early on at Miami Dade College, proved invaluable. MDC is the perfect place to build an excellent foundation towards your chosen field.”
