Few MDC students – only about 6.9 percent – need student loans thanks to the College’s affordable tuition and the American Dream Scholarship, which covers the cost of 60 MDC credits for qualifying high school graduates in Miami-Dade County.
As a result, the default rate for MDC students on federal Perkins loans is at a historical low of 3.62 percent – far below the state and national averages.
