Student Success Continues Rising

Miami Dade College serves as a national model of excellence in student retention, progress and completion. As the chart at right indicates, MDC student success stands at an impressive 88 percent. This along with the exceptionally low cost an MDC education make for an unbeatable track record.

The U.S. Department of Education has been so pleased with these findings that it awarded Homestead and North campuses grants of $220,000 and $230,916, respectively, to enable MDC to continue its longstanding mission of increasing the number of graduates who complete a postsecondary education coming from underrepresented groups including lowincome college students, firstgeneration students and those with disabilities.

These and other student achievement initiatives are vital keys to success at MDC, which has the largest undergraduate enrollment in the U.S. with more than 165,000 students. As the nation’s top producer of Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees, outside of predominantly online institutions, MDC has admitted more than 2 million students since opening in 1960. MDC awards more degrees to minorities than any other U.S. college or university, offering more than 300 distinct major pathways including several baccalaureate degrees.

Miami Dade College leads the nation in higher education on numerous fronts, including:

  • Largest number of overall graduates
  • Largest number of minority graduates
  • Largest number of Associate in Arts graduates
  • Largest number of Associate in Science graduates
  • Largest number of nursing graduates
