Lessons From the North

MDC’s acclaimed Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex (MAGIC) in collaboration with the Consulate General of Canada in Miami recently hosted a VIP reception to announce a partnership with Emily Carr University of Art + Design, which strengthens educational and cultural student exchanges between both educational institutions.

Canada is a world leader in digital media, animation, special effects and game development, which form a major portion of Canada’s digital economy, generating $7.5 billion in annual revenue and employing more than 50,000 people. During the reception at MDC, students and community participants networked with talented animators, game developers and leaders of Canada’s digital media industry. They also were treated to a tour of MAGIC’s 9,000-square-foot interactive learning building, which features a motion capture studio, state-of-the-art classrooms, an incubator and an Open Lab.
