Congratulations on your program completion at Miami Dade College! Your hard work and dedication will be recognized and celebrated on this momentous occasion. As we prepare for commencement, we would like to share with you the following information that will help make this day one you will remember proudly for the rest of your life.

Graduate Check in: 6:00 a.m.
No guests will be admitted after the doors close at 7:30 a.m.
ELIGIBILITY
You are eligible to participate in Commencement 2013 if your program requirements were met this academic year or will be met by the end of Summer 2013. If you meet this requirement, we urge you to join us in recognizing this educational benchmark.
CAPS & GOWNS
Caps & gowns will be available after April 22nd. To pick up your cap and gown, present your MDC ID at the Bookstore during the days and times below:
IAC BOOKSTORE
Monday & Tuesday 11 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday & Thursday 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Friday 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
There is no cost for the cap and gown if you have applied for graduation. The cap and gown are yours to keep.
Tickets are not required for guests to attend.
HONORARY REGALIA
Pick up honorary regalia by May 2nd. All graduates and degree candidates who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher will receive special recognition as Honor Graduates. Regular honors students that have applied for graduation during the Fall 2012, Spring 2013 and Summer 2013 will receive the following (free of charge): 3.5 - 3.69 GPA Honors Tassel; 3.7 - 4.0 GPA Honors Tassel & Honors Cord. Honor graduates must call 305-237-6713 or stop by the Honors College office at IAP9 to pick up their honors regalia before commencement.
SPECIAL NEEDS AND INDIVIDUALS/STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
Graduates who require special assistance should contact the ACCESS department at (305) 237-6360 no later than May 3rd. The graduation stage is wheelchair accessible to provide access for students with special needs.
PHOTOGRAPHS
We have contracted with a professional photographer to take individual photos of graduates as they cross the stage. The photo will be provided at a nominal cost. A proof of the photo and a blank order form will be mailed to the graduate's listed address. Since we are providing this professional service to our graduates, PHOTOS MAY NOT BE TAKEN OF INDIVIDUAL GRADUATES AS THEY CROSS THE STAGE. The Kendall Campus offers numerous attractive settings for graduation pictures before and after the ceremony.
DAY OF THE CEREMONY/ NAME CARDS
All graduates MUST bring their MDC ID and name card issued at the Bookstore with your cap and gown. Please report to the Library Concourse Building 2 by 6:00 a.m. After the processional, students will remain standing for the national anthem. Male graduates are asked to remove their caps for the anthem and replace them after being seated. This is a very special day for many attendees. Please be considerate of other graduates and their families. We ask that everyone remain seated until the end of the ceremony. Cell phones MUST be turned off or set to vibrate mode.
FAMILY MEMBERS AND GUESTS
In order to participate in the ceremony, we ask the graduates and guests to arrive on time. Parking is available in the student lots and in the parking garage. Please allow time for travel and parking. Expect delays due to traffic and additional security measures. Doors to the Gibson Health Center (gymnasium) open at 6:00 a.m. The doors will close at 7:30 a.m. No one will be admitted after the doors close at 7:30 a.m. The commencement ceremony is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. Guests should remain seated until the last graduate has exited the Gibson Health Center at the end of the ceremony.
SECURITY
For security reasons, the following items will not be allowed in the Gibson Health Center: large bags, noise makers, large cameras, tripods, coolers, balloons, banners and baby strollers. Cell phones MUST be turned off or set to vibrate mode. Your cooperation is appreciated.

DIRECTIONS
From the North via the Florida Turnpike Extension:
- Exit the Florida Turnpike Extension at Exit 20 for Kendall Drive (SW 88 Street).
- Turn left at the stop light onto Kendall Drive (SW 88 Street).
- Take Kendall Drive (SW 88 Street) to SW 117 Avenue. Turn right onto SW 117 Avenue and follow it to SW 104 Street (Killian Parkway).
- Turn left on SW 104 Street and go to the traffic signal for SW 113 Place.
- Turn left onto SW 113 Place.
From the North via the Palmetto Expressway (SR 826):
- Take SR 874 (Don Shula Expressway) from the Palmetto. (Stay in the left lanes as you approach the Bird Road exit sign says: "874 South Homestead Toll Road.")
- Exit at the SW 104 Street (Killian Parkway) exit.
- Turn left onto SW 104 Street and go to the stop light at SW 113 Place and turn right.
From the South via the Florida Turnpike Extension:
- Take SR 874 (Don Shula Expressway) from the Turnpike.
- Exit at the SW 104 Street (Killian Parkway) exit.
- Turn left onto SW 104 Street and go to the stop light at SW 113 Place and turn right.
