Congratulations on your program completion at Miami Dade College! Your hard work and dedication will be recognized and celebrated on this momentous occasion.

The Kendall Campus 2013 Commencement Ceremony will be held at the BankUnited Center on the campus of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL.

Deadline to apply for graduation and have name in program, Monday, March 25, 2013.

Due to printing deadlines, only those Miami Dade College students who apply for graduation by the deadline of Monday, March 25th, 2013 will have their names listed in the Commencement Program.

Caps, Gowns, Tickets, and Announcements

To pick up your cap, gown, 3 GUEST TICKETS*,and announcements, present your MDC ID at the Kendall Campus Bookstore during the dates and times below:

April 15, 16, 22, 23
7:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

April 17, 18, 24, 25 and May 1, 2
7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

April 19 and 26
7:30 a.m - Noon

There is no cost for the cap and gown if you have applied for graduation. The cap and gown are yours to keep. *Seating is limited. Tickets will be issued on a first come first served basis while supplies last.

Honorary Regalia

Honorary regalia will be available for pick up until May 3rd. All graduates and degree candidates who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 GPA or higher will receive special recognition as Honor Graduates. Honor students that have applied for graduation during the Fall 2012, Spring 2013, and summer 2013 terms will receive the following regalia free of charge: 3.5-3.69 GPA Honors Tassel; 3.7-4.0 GPA Honors Tassel & Honors Cord. All Honor students must call 305.237.2148 or stop by the Honors College office in Room 8205 to pick up their honor regalia before commencement.

Bachelor of Applied Science Graduates

Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) students may pick up their graduation cords, tassels, and medals at the School of Business (R427), Monday, April 15th – Wed, May 1st from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Students must have a valid MDC ID to pick up these items.

Special Needs and Accommodations

Graduates who require special assistance should contact the ACCESS department at 305-237-2767, no later than April 30th.  The graduation stage is wheelchair accessible to provide access for students with special needs.

Photography

We have contracted with a professional photographer to take individual photos of graduates as they cross the stage. The photo will be provided at a nominal cost. A proof of the photo and a blank order form will be e-mailed to the graduate's listed address. Since we are providing this professional service to our graduates, PHOTOS MAY NOT BE TAKEN OF INDIVIDUAL GRADUATES AS THEY CROSS THE STAGE.

Day of Ceremony

Graduating students should arrive in their cap and gown by 4:30 p.m. and follow the signs to the Graduate Lineup Site at the Fieldhouse at the BankUnited Center. All graduates MUST bring their MDC ID. This is a very special day for many attendees, so we ask that everyone remain seated until the end of the ceremony. Cell phones MUST be turned off or set to vibrate mode during the ceremony.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The procession will begin at 5:45 p.m. and the ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Guests should remain seated until the end of the ceremony.

Directions, Parking, and Public Transportation

We ask graduates and guests to arrive on time. Parking is ample at the BankUnited Center; however we strongly encourage guests to utilize the Metro Rail system to avoid traffic. Parking passes are not needed for any of the commencement parking lots. The Ponce de Leon Garage, Pavia Garage, and the parking lots on Walsh Avenue and Dickinson Drive provide ample spaces.
 
Please be aware that the city of Coral Gables police will strictly enforce off-campus parking regulations. For those utilizing public transportation, the BankUnited Center is located across the street from the University Station. Metro Rail fare is $2.00 and runs from 5 a.m. until midnight. Weekend service runs every 30 minutes until closing. 

The BankUnited Center is located one block west of Ponce de Leon Boulevard, just off of US-1/South Dixie Highway.

Directions from US-1 approaching from the north: Turn right onto South Alhambra Circle. You will come to an immediate traffic light; turn right onto Ponce de Leon.

Directions from US-1 approaching from the south: Turn left onto South Alhambra Circle. Get into the right lane. You will come to an immediate traffic light; turn right onto Ponce de Leon.
Once on Ponce de Leon, make the first left turn onto Dickinson Drive. Take Dickinson Drive to the Bank United Center, signage for parking will be visible.

Family Members and Guests

*All guests, including children and infants, must have an admission ticket. Doors will open at 5:30pm The procession will begin at 5:45pm and the ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30pm. Guests should remain seated until the end of the ceremony.

Veterans

*Graduating student veterans may pick up special cords to wear during commencement in the Bookstore during cap/gown distribution days. Veterans will be recognized during the commencement ceremony.

Security

For security reasons, the following items will not be allowed in the BankUnited Center: large bags, noise makers, large cameras, tripods, coolers, balloons, banners, and baby strollers. Cell Phones MUST BE TURNED OFF OR SET TO SILENT.
