Admission to the Program

Admission criteria for the Bachelor of Science in Education program:

  1. Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree, or 60 credits that include the completion of all general education requirements
    • General Education Requirements:
      • Communications- 6 credits
      • Oral Communication- 3 credits
      • Humanities- 6 credits
      • Behavioral/Social Sciences- 6 credits [DEP2000 strongly recommended]
      • Natural Science- 6 credits
      • Mathematics- 6 credits
      • General Education Elective- 3 credits- EDF1005
      • Electives- 14 credits
  2. Minimum of 2.5 Grade Point Average on a 4.0 scale
  3. General Knowledge Test (GKT)
    • Essay section passed for admission
    • All other sections (Reading, English, Math) passed or in process
  4. Completed the Common Education Pre-requisite courses with a minimum grade of “C” in each course
    • Must be completed: EDF1005, EDF2085, EME 2040, EEX2000
  5. Foreign Language:
    • Students must complete a foreign language requirement either by completing two consecutive years of advanced foreign language in high school or by 8 semester hours of college coursework
    • If satisfying requirement by high school courses, high school transcript must be presented
  6. Nine credits of diversity must be taken at the lower division
  7. Computer Competency:
    • Completion of CGS1060 with a minimum grade of “C” or passing computer test
  8. Background clearance card current
  9. Supplemental application
  10. Recommendation form- link needed
  11. Student Acknowledgement of Responsibilities signed
  12. All financial obligations to Miami Dade College satisfied
