Admission to the Program
Admission criteria for the Bachelor of Science in Education program:
- Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree, or 60 credits that include the completion of all general education requirements
- General Education Requirements:
- Communications- 6 credits
- Oral Communication- 3 credits
- Humanities- 6 credits
- Behavioral/Social Sciences- 6 credits [DEP2000 strongly recommended]
- Natural Science- 6 credits
- Mathematics- 6 credits
- General Education Elective- 3 credits- EDF1005
- Electives- 14 credits
- Minimum of 2.5 Grade Point Average on a 4.0 scale
- General Knowledge Test (GKT)
- Essay section passed for admission
- All other sections (Reading, English, Math) passed or in process
- Completed the Common Education Pre-requisite courses with a minimum grade of “C” in each course
- Must be completed: EDF1005, EDF2085, EME 2040, EEX2000
- Foreign Language:
- Students must complete a foreign language requirement either by completing two consecutive years of advanced foreign language in high school or by 8 semester hours of college coursework
- If satisfying requirement by high school courses, high school transcript must be presented
- Nine credits of diversity must be taken at the lower division
- Computer Competency:
- Completion of CGS1060 with a minimum grade of “C” or passing computer test
- Background clearance card current
- Supplemental application
- Recommendation form- link needed
- Student Acknowledgement of Responsibilities signed
- All financial obligations to Miami Dade College satisfied
