Key Pieces for Fierce Fall Fashion

Time to start fresh Sharks. It’s a new school year and a new season; so put aside that leftover money and hit the mall for the latest and hottest pieces for fall.

As students, we’re all on budgets, but it doesn’t mean we can’t take inspiration from our favorite high-end designers.

Keep your closet simple and full of basics, like solid colored camis, T-shirts, dresses for all occasions and a jacket for cold days.

Popular colors this season are black gray and navy. You don’t have to wear just one of these solid colors though; add a splash of color with an accent piece, whether it be an art inspired or flowery piece of jewelry or scarf.

For men, keep your look clean and structured. Military style jackets mixed with a scarf and high-tops will make your look modern yet sophisticated.

Students on a budget can have the same looks from their favorite top designers for much less, thanks to stores like Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, and Heritage 1981, that take their inspiration from designs on the runway.

I’ve made sure to highlight pieces that are each under $50. They are what I consider to be staple pieces for fall. Dark denim, cardigans, anything leather, studs, chains and zippers, scarves, and military style jackets are all must haves this fall, seen in just about every runway.

Don’t get too overwhelmed when shopping for your back to school items; you don’t need to buy everything all at once. First buy a sweater or jacket, and some accessories, so it won’t be so expensive. The next time you’re shopping, buy your denim and shoes.

When you buy your items little by little you give yourself time to save some extra money for the more expensive items and leave some for your lunch break.

Buy smart, and mix and match with some color. This fall is all about mixing the old with the new. Bring some of the new millennium modern flare with symmetrical shapes from jackets or jewelry with basic denim and simple flats for ladies.

Have fun back to school shopping, and don’t be afraid to try something different. Consider this semester your clean slate, and wear something you’ve never seen your self in before.

So now that you have no more excuses, I expect to see more students wearing something other than sweatpants this fall. Bring out your inner trendsetter.
