Virginia: Student journalists face charges
Katie Hibson, 19, a reporter for James Madison University’s campus newspaper The Breeze and Tim Chapman, 21, the editor-in-chief are being charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, and non-compliance with an official request after covering a news story on campus on Oct. 17.
Hibson went to a female dorm to report on an incident where someone was watching girls take showers through windows. She was invited into the dorm to speak with students.
When the residents adviser heard there was a reporter there- she demanded her to leave. Hibson then asked Chapman to speak with the resident’s adviser; Chapman said that the RA could not give a reasonable explanation for the actions.
It was not until Oct. 22 that Chapman learned he and Hibson were being charged through an e-mail.
New York: NYU student found dead in library
Andrew Williamson-Noble, was found dead in the Bobst Library of New York University on Nov. 3.
Williamson-Noble, a 20 year-old junior in the College of Arts and Sciences leapt to his death from the tenth floor-landing on the marble floor in the atrium of the library. His body was found around 4:30 a.m.
In 2003, the library was the scene of two suicides, which lead to the installation of protective railings.
