Building 1 under Renovation
North Campus recently installed new skylights in Scott Hall (building 1).
The skylights, which have been up since the opening of the college in 1960, were no longer providing any light. The replacements are part of the college’s sustainability initiative.
Marvin Francisco, director of maintenance at MDC, says the new sky lights will provide natural light and lower energy consumption because they filter out heat from the building.
The sky lights are being funded by the Wind Mitigation Grant. The project should be complete within two weeks. Also, the building will be receiving a new exterior window, interior cement ceiling tiles, and hurricane shutters. All renovations are expected to be complete within two months.
