Vaccines
Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to minimize the impact of a flu season. There will be two different types of flu vaccines (seasonal & H1N1) available this year. The CDC and Miami-Dade County Health Department are encouraging everyone to get vaccinated for the flu. Information about 2009 H1N1 flu vaccination can be found at: www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination. Information about seasonal flu vaccine can be found at: www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/keyfacts.htm.
H1N1 Flu Vaccine
Miami Dade College, in partnership with the Miami-Dade County Health Department, will sponsor the first H1N1 flu vaccination sites on MDC campuses for students and employees starting on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, through Monday, December 14, 2009. You must be 18 years of age or older to receive the H1N1 flu vaccine at any of the Miami Dade College sites.
The H1N1 flu vaccine is being provided free of charge. You may receive the H1N1 flu vaccine at any of the vaccination sites during the dates and times listed. While the local supply of the H1N1 flu vaccine is adequate for the number of people who have requested the vaccine, we encourage you to attend one of the campus sites as early as possible since the H1N1 flu vaccines will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. Preregistration does not guarantee you an H1N1 flu vaccine on your preferred campus.
Please fill out (typed or neatly handwritten) a consent form (in English or Spanish) and bring a completed copy with you to the vaccination site. You should also take time to review the Vaccine Information Statements and consult your health care provider to determine if you should receive the H1N1 vaccine.
