AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps is an opportunity to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of those around you. It’s a chance to apply your skills and ideals toward helping others and meeting critical needs in the community.
AmeriCorps is often referred to as "the domestic Peace Corps." Both agencies are committed to service, and both offer challenging and rewarding full-time opportunities. Peace Corps assignments are all overseas, and AmeriCorps members serve only in the US.
The Institute for Civic Engagement and Democracy (iCED) AmeriCorps VISTA members spend one year in full-time service to builds bridges between classrooms and communities. iCED’s VISTA members improve the quality of education at Miami Dade College and address societal needs through service-learning by connecting educators, students, and community partners through campus-community partnerships, applied civic education, and engaged citizenship.

Benefits of Service
As an AmeriCorps Vista Member with iCED, you’ll gain new skills and experiences—and you’ll also find the tremendous satisfaction that comes from helping others. In addition, full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award to pay for college, graduate school, or to pay back qualified student loans.
