IMLS Library Project PIPELINE
Scholarship Criteria
IMLS Library Project PIPELINE is a Federal grant supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program. The primary objective of the grant is to identify and support library support by improving their ability to serve library clients. This support offers up to $2,500 per year for up to three (3) years, for qualified library support staff to pursue education in the form of completion of an associate's, undergraduate education or graduate degree, and classes to improve foreign languages and computer skills. Funds may also pay for ALA certification classes for support staff.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be currently employed, full or part-time, by one of the following organizations:
- Miami Dade College Library
- Miami-Dade Public Library System
- Florida International University Library
- North Miami Senior High Media Center
Scholarship may be used for the following activities:
- Pursuit of an Associate's Degree
- Pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree (in any field)
- Pursuit of a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science
- Library Support Certification Program
- Computer skill classes at Miami Dade College
- Language skill classes at Miami Dade College
- Test preparation classes at Miami Dade College
- Private tutoring at Miami Dade College
- Library related skill classes
- Textbooks
Scholarships may be used at:
- Miami Dade College
- Florida International University
- University of South Florida
- Library Support Staff Certification course sponsored by the American Library Association
Applicants must follow all after award requirements. Awardees will be selected from completed applications. Selection of awardees will be made by IMLS Library Project staff in conjunction with the IMLS Library Project Advisory Committee. All decisions will be final.
