Sofian Abdelaziz Zakkout

Sofian Abdelaziz Zakkout, ‘79, is director of the Miami-based American Muslim Association of North America (AMANA). Since 1992, AMANA (translated “voice of trust” in Arabic) has supported its mission – to bring people together through knowledge and caring – by encouraging tolerance of all cultures. Recently, Abdelaziz Zakkout was honored by both Broward Commissioner Kristin Jacobs and Miami-Dade Commissioner Javier Souto with appointments to the Broward County Diversity Advisory Council and the Community Relations Board of Miami-Dade County, respectively. In addition, Abdelaziz Zakkout is a member of the board of Americans for Israeli and Palestinian Orphans and the Florida Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
