MDC's Florida Center for the Literary Arts Brings Some of the Most Talented Noir Writers Under the Sun

Miami, Wednesday, May 14, 2008 - Grab your fedora (or Panama hat) for a night of deliciously dark tales as some of the area’s most talented crime and mystery writers discuss their latest thrillers, crime stories and mysteries. The evening filled with stories of corruption, greed and crime will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at Soya e Pomodoro, a popular eatery in downtown Miami. This new Write Out Loud! event, free and open to the public, is being introduced by the Florida Center for the Literary Arts (FCLA) at Miami Dade College (MDC).
Set amid the sultry bohemian atmosphere inside Soya, The Noir Side of the Sun: Crimes, Mysteries and Thrillers, Miami Style, will feature some of the area’s most talented crime and mystery writers, including Lynne Barrett, James O. Born, Edna Buchanan, Vicki Hendricks, Paul Levine, Bob Williamson, and crime newsreporter Bob Norman. In addition to exploring the dark side of literature through readings and discussion, the restaurant will be open for dinner, offering wine and beer.
The Write Out Loud! series is a component of the FCLA, providing a platform for South Florida’s hottest literary and musical talent.
