Costa Rican Vice President to Visit Miami Dade College on a Mission to Enhance Cultural Exchange
Costa Rican Vice President Laura Chinchilla Miranda
Miami, Thursday, June 26, 2008 - Costa Rican Vice President Laura Chinchilla Miranda will address Miami Dade College (MDC) students, faculty and staff at a special presentation on Saturday, July 12, at 3 p.m. at the Wolfson Campus. This invitation-only event is made possible with the collaboration of Lorena Sanchez-Urpi, the Honorable Consul General of Costa Rica. The working media is welcome to attend.
Chinchilla will make a presentation in Spanish to students enrolled in the MDC Honors College Dual Language Program, faculty and staff. She will discuss the importance of reinforcing relationships between Costa Rica and Miami, with a focus on education, culture and trade.
Costa Rica’s vice president is also a member of the national assembly. Since 1990, she has worked as a consultant in Latin America and Africa with the United Nations and international cooperation agencies in the area of institutional reform, with special emphasis on legal reform and reform of public security.
She has also produced various publications — in Spanish and English — on matters relating to the administration of justice, public security and police reform.
