MDC President Appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Miami Branch Board of Directors
Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón, president of Miami Dade College
Miami, March 11, 2009 - Throughout his four decade career in higher education, Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón, president of Miami Dade College (MDC), has been appointed to numerous important national boards, including being tapped to serve by four U.S. Presidents. Now, he has been appointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Miami Branch.
Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta branch directors provide economic information from the branch territory to the district Bank’s president and head office directors, who use the information in formulating monetary policy and making discount rate recommendations. Padrón was appointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Miami Branch by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.
The Board of Governors appoints three of the directors of the Miami Branch, and the Atlanta head office directors appoint four. Padrón’s insight will be key as he is not only a lifelong educator, but received his advanced degrees in economics.
Padrón, who has been president of Miami Dade College since 1995, was recently appointed chair of the Association of American Colleges and Universities. He is also a member of the board of directors of the American Council on Education, the Carnegie Foundation, and the Business/Higher Education Forum.
Padrón is also on the editorial boards of University Business, The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education and The Presidency.
