Florida Governor Charlie Crist Reappoints Three Members of MDC's District Board of Trustees

Miami, July 15, 2009 - Florida Governor Charlie Crist has reappointed three members of Miami Dade College’s (MDC) District Board of Trustees to four year terms subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate during the next legislative session.
Reappointed were MDC Board chairHelen Aguirre Ferre, trustee Armando Bucelo Jr. and trustee Marielena Villamil. Aguirre Ferre is an acclaimed journalist and broadcaster who has become a respected national spokesperson on the issues impacting higher education, especially community colleges. Trustee Bucelo is a respected Coral Gables attorney, chair of the federal Securities Investor Protection Corporation and advocate for the college who’s spent countless hours championing MDC before local, state and federal elected officials. He has also mentored and guided the college’s renowned chess team which has been ranked among the nation’s top four squads for the last six years. Trustee Villamil is the president of a prominent economic consulting firm. She has worked tirelessly on behalf of the region’s business community in several capacities.
In addition to Aguirre Ferre, Bucelo and Villamil, trustee and Board vice chair Peter Roulhac presently serves on MDC’s District Board along with Mikki Canton, Benjamin Leon III, and Robert H. Fernandez.
