Prometeo Theatre Students Take On Shakespeare’s Othello

Miami, July 2, 2009 - It’s time for Prometeo Theatre’s intensive two-year program students to reap the fruit of their labor, which consisted of conservatory-style training in acting, movement, voice, and theater history. In completion of their coursework, the program’s first class will perform an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Othello as part of this year’s International Hispanic Theatre Festival. The performances run July 9 – 12.
Prometeo Theatre, housed at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Wolfson Campus in downtown, is a component of the college’s acclaimed Florida Center for the Literary Arts. In 2007, Prometeo launched an all-Spanish, non-credit program that became the first of its kind in the nation. The two-year Professional Actor Training Program provides tools for students in all aspects of the profession and is taught by some of the very best professors in the region.
The performances will be in Spanish with English subtitles. Tickets are $25, discounts available for students and seniors.
