Marc Kielburger, a Harvard grad and Rhodes scholar, will speak to MDC students about ethics, life, and finding success on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the Wolfson Campus.

Miami, November 5, 2009 - In the midst of an economic downturn where the focus seems to be increasingly on money and material wealth, Miami Dade College (MDC) students are instead being prepared to focus on how to find meaning and success through a new approach to living. Marc Kielburger, chief executive director of Free The Children, an international charity that sponsors children’s education programs, will discuss this topic with students via a live broadcast at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at the Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami.

The event is part of a leadership speaker series sponsored by the MDC chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success (Society).  MDC Wolfson Campus started the College’s first and only chapter of the prestigious leadership organization earlier this fall with more than 280 students becoming active members.

Having begun his own journey to global change as a pre-teen, Kielburger is known for his resourcefulness and using local efforts to make significant worldwide change. “Kielburger’s work is inspirational,” said Dr. Jane Goodall, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute. “I have known him for years and shared the podium with him many times at international gatherings.”

In addition to his work with Free The Children, Kielburger is also the co-founder and director of Me to We, a social enterprise dedicated to teaching ethical living and providing socially responsible products and opportunities to young people around the world. Kielburger will show students the value of living the “Me to We” philosophy, including how to: discover the blueprint for personal and social change; transform lives one act at a time; and define your personal legacy.

The Society speaker series, which reaches over 200 college campuses and 80,000 students each month during the academic year, is designed to support The National Society of Leadership and Success’s overall mission of creating lasting positive change.
