Miami Dade College and Mexican Red Cross to Enter Collaborative Agreement

Miami, November 4, 2009 - Miami Dade College (MDC) and Cruz Roja Mexicana (Mexican Red Cross) will enter a collaborative agreement for the development and implementation of educational opportunities for emergency medical services professionals in Mexico to improve their knowledge in curriculum, design and delivery. In turn, this collaboration will enable the Mexican Red Cross to better manage and sustain quality emergency medical services throughout Mexico. 

A signing ceremony will take place on Monday, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m., at MDC’s Medical Center Campus. MDC President Dr. Eduardo Padrón and Daniel Goñi Diaz, President of the National Board of Directors of the Mexican Red Cross, will be present at the ceremony.    

The Mexican Red Cross serves as the primary provider and trainer of emergency medical services in Mexico. Through this collaborative effort, the Medical Center Campus’ Emergency Medical Services (EMS) faculty and staff will work to advance the training of EMS personnel in Mexico to be reflective of the training found in the U.S., especially South Florida and MDC.
