Dr. Mercedes Quiroga to Serve on South Florida Behavioral Health Network’s Board of Directors
Miami, April 7, 2010 - Dr. Mercedes Quiroga, President of Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Wolfson Campus, has been selected to serve on South Florida Behavioral Health Network, Inc.’s (SFBHN) Board of Directors.
Dr. Quiroga has served MDC for more than 20 years in various roles, including Provost and CEO of New World School of the Arts and Wolfson Campus Chairperson of the Department of Arts and Philosophy. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Miami. SFBHN chose Dr. Quiroga because of her leadership and her previous record of service to this community.
The SFBHN is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the improvement and enhancement of behavioral health care services throughout South Florida and is committed to cost-effective, well managed, performance-driven, community-based, integrated behavioral health service delivery systems that improve the lives of diverse consumer populations.
Dr. Quiroga and her fellow board members, along with the leadership of the provider agencies, will work together to provide treatment and prevention services to individuals and families with any behavioral health problems, substance abuse and/or mental health or co-occurring disorders. The board also focuses on prevention.
