MDC Gearing Up for 2010 Commencement Exercises on May 1
Miami, April 12, 2010 - A buzz of excitement is in the air as Miami Dade College (MDC) prepares for its 2010 Commencement Exercises on May 1. The college will host seven commencement ceremonies on this special day for graduates from eight campuses. Speakers, honorees and statistics on the graduating class will be announced soon.
MDC graduations have always been momentous and memorable events. Last year, more than 9,100 students walked across the stage during graduation, and speakers included US Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis and David Lawrence Jr., president of the Early Childhood Initiative Foundation and former Miami Herald publisher. In 2008, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi addressed students, along with other important speakers. In 2007, President George W. Bush spoke to MDC graduates.
