Miami Dade College Team Wins First Place at State Math Olympics

Miami, April 20, 2010 - A group of Miami Dade College (MDC) students recently beat out 24 other teams statewide to take first place at the Math Olympics at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
Three MDC teams participated in total, representing the Kendall, InterAmerican and Wolfson campuses. The competition consisted of several tests, including a 40-question multiple choice exam and 10 real-life application exercises and questions to be solved in groups.
The Wolfson Campus team, comprised of Jose Rodriguez, Steven Carrera, Alejo Stark, and Luis Larco, won the championship. Rodriguez won first place in the individual competition. In addition to receiving a trophy, he was awarded a scholarship
